Come play with us in a vibrant yet gritty immersive theatre experience sprawling across Metro Arts’ New Benner Theatre. The stage is set, the house lights are on, and Romeo and Juliet aren’t here. VERONA isn’t a retelling – it’s a fresh dialogue with Shakespeare’s most well-known plays. It presents youthful idealism as a weapon against corruption, and romantic optimism as the antagonist to cynical socio-political power structures. VERONA speaks to a generation of people coming up in a world that may need to be dismantled and rebuilt before it can include them. Audiences don’t have to watch and wait – in this neon Australian underbelly, you are now the two hours’ traffic of our stage. Join us for death, sex, murder, and what’s been kept quiet in the greatest love story of its age.
IMRSE is currently developing VERONA at Metro Arts during their residency as the Company in Residence.
IMRSE acknowledges the Jagera and Turrbal people who are the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and their unique relationship with the lands, seas and waterways. We pay our respects to their Elders both past and present, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
